Do You Travel (“DYT”, “we”, “our”, “us”) ABN 28 564 274 760 respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and your rights, in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
This Policy applies to our website (dytravel.com.au), our travel booking services, and our Host Program.
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
• Name, email address, phone number
• Passport details and other identity documents required for travel bookings
• Payment and billing information
• Health, dietary, and accessibility information relevant to your trip
• Emergency contact details
• Travel preferences and booking history
• For Host Program applicants: social media handles, audience size and engagement information, and details about your community
• Technical information collected automatically via our website, such as IP address and cookies (see Cookies section below)
We generally collect personal information directly from you — for example, when you make a booking, apply to our Host Program, contact us, or use our website. We may also collect information from third parties, such as our travel suppliers, or a host promoting a group trip you’ve booked through.
We use personal information to:
• Arrange and manage your travel bookings, including with accommodation, transport, and tour suppliers
• Communicate with you about your booking, including pre-departure information and on-trip support
• Process payments and issue receipts or invoices
• Assess Host Program applications and manage our relationship with accepted hosts
• Comply with our legal and regulatory obligations
• Improve our website and services
• With your consent, send you marketing communications, which you can opt out of at any time
We disclose personal information where necessary to deliver your trip, including to:
• Philippines-based accommodation providers, tour operators, transport providers, and local guides
• Payment processors
• Travel insurers, where relevant to a claim or requirement
• Government or regulatory bodies, where required by law
If you book a trip promoted by one of our hosts, we may share your name and basic group information with that host, where operationally necessary — for example, so they know who’s travelling in their group.
We do not share your passport, health, payment, or other sensitive information with hosts without your consent and a genuine operational need.
You will only be added to a host-run community group (such as WhatsApp or Facebook) with your separate, explicit consent. Similarly, we obtain separate consent before any photos or videos of you are used in a host’s marketing content.
Because we specialise in Philippines travel, your personal information will ordinarily be disclosed to suppliers, guides, and service providers located in the Philippines in order to deliver your trip. We take reasonable steps to ensure these overseas recipients handle your information appropriately, but we do not exercise direct control over their privacy practices. By booking with us, you consent to this overseas disclosure, which is reasonably necessary for us to provide your travel services.
Our website uses cookies to support core functionality and to understand how visitors use our site. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect some website functionality.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure — including using password-protected systems and limiting staff access to confidential information. Passport details are deleted from our systems once they are no longer required for your trip. Other information, such as your name, email, and phone number, may be retained for a longer period where necessary for record-keeping, tax, or legal purposes, or where you’ve consented to ongoing marketing communications.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations, after which it is securely deleted or de-identified.
Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
• Ask what personal information we hold about you
• Request access to your personal information
• Request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date personal information
• Make a complaint about how we’ve handled your personal information
If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your personal information, please contact us at info@dytravel.com.au. We will investigate and respond to your complaint within a reasonable time.
If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
